Characters in Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea (崖の上のポニョ Gake no Ue no Ponyo)

About japanese movie Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea, I like it, especially when Ponyo turns into chicken..... It is funny to see her running all over the place in her father's ship. I like it, but it doesn't mean I love it. It's funny but it doen't fit my taste of anime.

Now, about the characters. Let's start from the main character...

Ponyo is a fish who has a face of human. Her curiosity of human makes her meet Sosuke. After the first time they met, Ponyo falls in love with Sosuke. Even she dares to oppose her father in order to meet Sosuke again....

Sosuke is a 5 years old boy who lived with his mother because his father works on the sea. Eventhough his father is always working, he loves his father and he can communicate with his father by morse code. He is polite and naive boy, and also he helps his mother to take care the old ladies. He also loves Ponyo and always protect her....

Lisa is a very brave, moody, and also an example of good mother eventhough she should take care Sosuke by herself. Sometimes she can be patient, but sometimes she is very reckless. And she loves his husband eventhough she never shows it.

Koichi is Sosuke's father and Lisa's husband. He is a nice guy and loves his family. He should leave his family because he is working on the sea.

Fujimoto is a father of Ponyo. Actually he is kind and he is not the villain in this movie, but his ways to protect his children is little bit extreme. He also acts goofy all the time.

Granmamare is goddess of the sea and Fujimoto's wife. She is very calm and wise. She also understands problems between Ponyo and Sosuke.

Ponyo's sister always loves and supports their sister.

Toki is old lady who is very superstitious but she is a good woman and she also helps Sosuke with one heroic moves (well, I don't think so...). After everything that happens, she stops mumbling and starts new life...

Well, that's all that I need to say. This movie has no villain nor hero, and it's good. This movie taught us to understand people more to avoid such troubles.
